Dr. Marcus Oliver Carter Head completed eight years of orthopaedic specialty training. Following his MRCS achievement, he spent over three years of subspecialty spinal training in the UK with fellowships in degenerative and minimally invasive surgery. An orthopaedic surgeon by profession, Dr Marcus focused his efforts in performing elective and emergency spine surgery in addition to complex orthopaedic spine reconstruction.

In the past four years, Dr Marcus has successfully performed a full range of adult spinal surgery from simple disc diseases to complex trauma and tumours. As one of the most recognised orthopaedic surgeons in the region, Dr Marcus Oliver Carter Head has also treated spondylolisthesis, spinal infection, tumours, adult degenerative scoliosis and spinal stenosis by performing minimally invasive surgery where possible to reduce pain and speed recovery for patients. Dr Marcus has also had extensive experience of treating complex spinal trauma and treating patients with neurological injury. Dr Marcus has also performed surgery and taught local surgeons in the developing world for charitable causes.

Implementing ground-breaking techniques and quicker recovery solutions, Dr Marcus has acquired extensive experience and training at the world renowned orthopaedic hospital in Oswestry and other prestigious hospitals and medical centres in the UK and MENA region.

Dr Marcus has also published papers, reports and case studies and chaired scientific committees for international conferences. He has also been involved in research of depot steroid placement around nerve roots to reduce peri-neural fibrosis, vitamin D levels in spondylolysis, the use of vancomycin powder to reduce infection rates and is part of an international study to evaluate the role for surgery in certain types of spine fractures. Dr Marcus has been passionate about his subject and puts his education to use by not just treating patients, but also through teaching and mentoring junior doctors and groups of medical students.
